Abang Jo wants Anwar to lead unity gov't for a full term....

Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg has voiced his support for retaining Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister until the conclusion of the current parliamentary term. This sentiment was conveyed during a town hall session with the Sarawak Premier at the Hikmah Exchange tonight.

Abang Johari said changing the prime minister midway before the end of the administration term could lead to further attempts to change the government. Abang Johari said it was crucial to maintain stability in the country's politics for economic recovery and the well-being of the people.

"Since Anwar is already there (leading the unity government as the prime minister), let it be until the end. Because the government's principle, following the practice of democracy, is that when elections are held, whatever the decision, let it be until the end," he said.

Abang Johari said if the current government were to be changed after governing for only a year, he believed the country's politics would continue to be unsettled."After that, there will be all sorts of issues – `leaks in the roof', `coming through the windows', and maybe even (via the) `holes in the floor' later. In the end, the entire nation will be the victim," he said.

Therefore, he said Sarawak continues to maintain its stance to support the existing government to strengthen Malaysia's political stability. He also expressed his surprise as to why the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was associated with the Dubai Move when the party was completely unaware of it.

"A GPS leader, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan (Sarawak deputy premier), was in Dubai for vacation."He did not meet anyone there (as claimed). So how can GPS be implicated, including the claim that I will be chosen as the prime minister?" he said.

He also said GPS is aware of its position in Parliament, with only 23 members, and it would not be sustainable for him if chosen to lead the government formed due to the Dubai Move."With only 23 members of Parliament, there will certainly be pressure on me as well," he said. - nst

Meanwhile, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg clarified that the “Sarawak First” slogan embraced by the ruling GPS does not imply a desire for the state to secede from the Malaysian federation and become an independent nation. He said there was no question of secession, as Sarawak had agreed to and signed the Malaysia Agreement back in 1963 to form a federation.

“The slogan means we take care of our house first,” he said at a town hall session organised in conjunction with his seventh year in office first as the chief minister and then the premier of Sarawak last night (Jan 13). “It is not that easy to become an independent country. What we really need is a strong united Malaysia,” he said, adding that if Sarawak is strong, Malaysia naturally will be strong.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari who goes by the moniker Abang Jo, has also hinted at another “strategic entity” that Sarawak is going to acquire this year. He told the media that he is of the opinion that this takeover could assist businesses and entrepreneurs in the state.

However, he noted that he can only reveal the details within this month, adding that it is one of the three major entities that Sarawak is going to take over this year. “I have given you the hints – there are three things that we are going to take over in 2024.

“Firstly, we will finalise the Bintulu Port takeover in June, the second one will be announced within this month, and the third is MAS Wings. Then we will have the whole system,” he stated after the Amanat Perdana programme at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). - FocusM

Ballot box versus statutory declarations...

Ballot box versus statutory declarations....

Why should we bother with elections or continue with our democratic system of governance, if selfish politicians are allowed to dictate who becomes leader simply with the use of statutory declarations (SDs)? Is voting no longer relevant in Malaysia? All actions have consequences, and the end-result is more pronounced when irresponsible politicians who only think of their own selfish agenda ignore the effects on themselves and on others.

Malaysia is a democracy. Its citizens elect their MPs through elections using the ballot box. But recently, it has become increasingly common for politicians to abuse SDs to prolong their political life. In their attempt to topple the government, greedy and power-hungry politicians have abused SDs to wrestle political power from the ruling party, or simply to gain political advantage.

Whether through ignorance or by choice, they have simply ignored the constitutional role of both federal and state constitutions to gain political mileage. Malaysian must not keep quiet about the frequent abuse of SDs which affirm political allegiance. Why should we agree with SDs being abused to change governments or to alter the direction of the nation?

Is this the new way forward for Malaysia, whereby MPs and state assemblymen representing us in parliament or the state assembly, and who carry our voices, can be easily replaced by a slew of politicians who gather in secret, sign their SDs, then loudly boast to the nation that they have the numbers to effectively change the future of our country?

Last2 kena kencing dgn Raja putaq alam...

If few people object, then why not abolish the usual system of democratic governance? Some Malaysians may say that SDs have been “misused” rather than “abused”. However, when something is “misused”, it is possibly a mistake and could have been unintentional. “Abuse” carries with it a more serious connotation than “misuse”.

Our politicians have definitely “abused” the SDs as they have done something intentionally with no regard for the serious consequences that may ensue. Politicians from both sides of the divide and those who abused SDs, have ignored the damage that will be done to the nation, the harm done to our democracy, and to the loss of trust and confidence in our politicians.

Will they only come to their senses when they observe how chaotic the country will become and how investor confidence will plummet, if we were to allow SDs to be the norm in how the country is run? Instead of working together to rebuild Malaysia, opposition politicians refuse to work together with ruling politicians to solve the issues which affect the rakyat.

However, it is not just politicians from opposing sides who refuse to cooperate, because we find that within political parties, infighting is another reason for discontent, with disgruntled politicians teaming up with others claiming that their SDs will topple the government. If they are successful, this is how the rakyat will lose heart in democracy, and vow never to go out and vote again.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reassured the rakyat that the Agong has said the palace would not be involved in any political manoeuvres. This is the political maturity and reassurance the country badly needs.

Some people may think that SDs will cause no harm, but this is precisely how public order can be disrupted with the rakyat becoming increasingly anxious and a state of political instability may be created which could also threaten national security.

Talks about opposition politicians securing sufficient MPs to topple the Unity Government have been dominating the headlines. The Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Ismail Yusop made reference to a plot which has been dubbed the Dubai Move.

This was later confirmed by Deputy PM and Umno-Baru President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who later flew to Sabah to defuse the political tensions ahead of the 17th Sabah state election. This did not exactly leave us feeling confident about our political situation.

Meanwhile, Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said last Sunday that the Opposition had sufficient SDs to topple the Madani administration and that they were only awaiting the right moment.

The rakyat are sick and tired of the changes and talks about SDs toppling the government of the day. We want a smoothly running administration for the good of the nation. The abuse of SDs started off with the Perak coup, then the Sheraton Move, and now the Dubai Move. Malaysians have had to endure right wing nationalists, religious bigots and now political plotters armed with SDs.

The police should take appropriate action against these people, especially as they have threatened to topple the government, and harm national security. If the law has been broken, they should be punished. Malaysia has endured several PMs in the last five years. We tend to change PMs more than we change our undergarments, and this does not bode well for the nation. - Mariam Mokhtar

Prior to the year-end, foreigners were net seller of the Malaysian market and the stucked local funds were waiting to sell also. Suddenly foreign funds went on a buy spree for the new year and locals selling. The past week saw the seizure of Ilham Tower and talk of Langkah Dubai. It is said that the money meant to bribe and support the coup d'etat was intercepted in Dubai.

There is a claim it was RM750 million for MPs but it is physically not feasible to transport such amount of cash. Yesterday a claim went viral that the amount was RM1 billion and meant for a single person. The Langkah Dubai has failed. The incoming Agong refused to receive any audience till January 31, current Agong expressed hope for Anwar to finish his term, and Borneo Bloc affirm their commitment for Anwar.

PN continue to create perception of confidence with new target dates and claim it is just a matter of time. They have not given up and it is a life and death situation for Mahathir, Daim, Hishamuddin and others in fear of their past coming back to haunt them.

Putting all these political perception and market speculation aside, the one possible reason for the market's surprise run-up is that money for LANGKAH MERBOK came in via foreign buying up stocks in the market and enable money for the political operation transferred to local hands.
MACC should move in on brokerage firm to identify the major sellers of stocks with high volumes. That is not so difficult to do isn't it? - Thick as a brick

The Opposition’s fake 120 MPs list...

The Opposition’s fake 120 MPs list....

With less than 3 weeks before Sultan Ibrahim of Johor is scheduled to be sworn in as Malaysia’s 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), the clock is ticking as more crooks are in the queue to be charged. At least two former Prime Ministers – Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri – could potentially join fellow Najib Razak, the disgraced ex-premier currently serving 12 years jail for corruption.

Muhyiddin, the country’s first backdoor prime minister, has been slapped with four counts of corruptions and two counts of money laundering charges linked to RM600 billion Covid scandal during his 17-month illegitimate backdoor government (March 2020 – August 2021). Sabri’s spending of RM62 million to popularise his “Keluarga Malaysia” concept is under investigation, and he could soon be charged too.

On top of that, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is also investigating the dubious RM700 million allocation for publicity to promote the previous Muhyiddin and Ismail administrations between 2020 and 2022. While Muhyiddin had spent RM500 million, his successor “turtle egg” Sabri had used up about RM200 million. Chances are both had their hands in the cookie jar.

Mahathir Mohamad might escape jail due to his old age. But he has a bigger problem. As the longest serving prime minister (1981-2003), his corruption index is at the top of the chart. That would take ages for investigators to dig and prove. There’s more than one way to skin a cat though. The MACC could target Mahathir’s extraordinary wealthy children, the same way Daim Zainuddin’s assets are being frozen.

Muhyiddin, Ismail, Mahathir and Daim are four sharks that Anwar government is trying to catch and slaughter. There’s another old dying shark which the authorities have yet to touch for obvious reason – Abdul Taib Mahmud, the most corrupt former Sarawak Chief Minister (1981-2014) who was promoted as the Governor during Najib administration (2009-2018).

The primary reason the Borneo state is being left alone, at least for now, is because the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) ruling state government holds the golden key to forming the federal government with a simple-majority, as does the United Malays National Organization (UMNO). Anyway, Anwar’s popularity will skyrocket if he can jail just one of the four sharks, let alone all four of them.

This is why Anwar Ibrahim’s pledge to crack down on corruption has sent shivers down the spine of all the crooks, so much so the latest “Dubai Move” was hatched to overthrow him. The war against corruption committed by past leaders has united the three ex-premiers, who decided to topple – but fail – PM Anwar after the MACC seized the 60-storey Menara Ilham owned by the family of Daim.

After the Dubai Move failed (it was never able to take off from the beginning), the three groups in the Opposition – comprising Bersatu, PAS and Mahathir – began to experience panic disorder. The fantasy that King Sultan Abdullah would be calling Muhyiddin and his so-called coalition partners to form a new government on Dec 15, 2023, was torpedoed after the MACC froze and seized Daim’s assets on Dec 18.

Worse, the “Plan-B” to smuggle RM750 million to bribe MPs to declaring their “loss of confidence” in Anwar government was similarly intercepted, thanks largely to Anti-Terrorism Financing Act, which grants the authorities with wide power. Again, the hallucination of swearing in a new backdoor prime minister on Dec 31, 2023 went up in smoke.

To keep scamming pro-opposition gullible supporters with yet another false hope, pro-Perikatan Nasional bloggers and propagandists have now introduced a long list of new menu – 120 MPs who have lost faith in Anwar along with 4 Prime Minister candidates for the King to choose from. The desperate psychological warfare was nothing but the last naughty attempt to create havoc before a new King is sworn in.

However, there’re 10 reasons why not only Anwar cannot be toppled, but the list of 120 MPs is fake because the opposition does not have the numbers. In fact, the story is full of red flags that even though it is not newsworthy, it is both hilarious and entertaining for a weekend reading pleasure.

Among those 120 people, there are the names of YB Taufik Johari,PKR MP, & YB Lim Guan Eng,National DAP Chairman. It's a bit strange that LGE and Taufik Johari are also supporting...

SD Is Not Worth The Paper It’s Printed On...

It appears that the sore losers still could not accept the reality that the Statutory Declaration (SD) was already obsolete when the anti-hopping law was gazetted on Sept 6, 2022. The SDs, allegedly signed the dubious 120 MPs to overthrow the Anwar administration, are said to have been sent to the King this week, and the monarch is expected to call each and every of the 120 MPs next week.

Was it not Muhyiddin who pulled the same stunt back in Nov 2022 after the 15th General Election, where he told all and sundry that Perikatan Nasional had 115 MPs supporting him as the 10th Prime Minister, but the Agong said that it was not enough? As a result, the stunned and dejected Muhyiddin threw tantrum and rejected the King’s proposal on forming a unity government.

If the King had decided to reject the SDs from 115 MPs previously, exactly why should the monarch accept the 120 MPs this round? Would not that make Sultan Abdullah looks like a fool? The anti-hopping law prevents lawmakers from jumping ship unless it is through en-bloc defection, meaning if UMNO president Zahid Hamidi doesn’t move, nothing moves.

Opposition Dares Not Use Simpler Method...

Between Oct 12 and Nov 28, 2023, five Bersatu MPs of Kuala Kangsar, Labuan, Gua Musang, Jeli and Bukit Gantang publicly declared support for Anwar government while insisting they remained loyal to the party – effectively bypassing a loophole in the anti-hopping law. Instead of signing SDs and wait for an interview with Agong, why can’t the 120 MPs do the same?

Yes, there’s a simpler method to overthrow PM Anwar. All the Perikatan Nasional bloggers, propagandists, cyber troopers and TikTokers should stop talking cock. What they need to do is to get the 120 MPs to parade themselves like in a beauty pageant and publicly announced their loss of confidence in the prime minister and voila, Mr Anwar Ibrahim will become the shortest serving prime minister.

Anwar Won Vote Of Confidence In Parliament...

Anwar, in order to prove that not only he is a legitimate prime minister, but also possessed the support of 148 MPs or two-thirds majority in the 222-seat Parliament, had courageously promised on the same day he was sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister to table a motion of confidence, which he did and won on Dec 19, 2022. That’s a humiliation to Muhyiddin who claimed he had 115 MPs behind him.

The confidence vote is extremely important. Even if the King wants the PM to step down, it must be done democratically and legitimately in the Parliament through the same motion of confidence. Perikatan Nasional can always table a motion of no confidence against Anwar to test whether he still commands the majority support. The only reason it refuses to do so – they don’t have the numbers.

Agong Refuses To Be Scammed & Shamed Again...

Assuming the 120 MPs had signed 120 SDs, chances are the Palace will dump it into the dustbin. When Muhyiddin tried to use 115 SDs to demand that he be sworn in by King Sultan Abdullah on Nov 2022, the documents were ignored because the monarch realized it was another dirty trick, the same way Muhyiddin scammed the King back in March 2020.

On the eve of Muhyiddin’s swearing-in on March 1, 2020, Mahathir had claimed to have 114 votes. The former prime minister had even pre-emptively published the list of 114 MPs who supported him as the next prime minister, along with a letter to the Palace (at least 112 minimum seats required to form a simple-majority government in the 222-seat Parliament).

Muhyiddin, however, failed or refused to publish a list of Members of Parliaments allegedly supported him, but was sworn in by the monarch anyway (a mistake that would haunt the King). Muhyiddin’s legitimacy was questioned when he locked the Parliament under the pretext of fighting Covid-19. During his 17-month regime, the former backdoor PM had never dared to hold a motion of confidence to prove his legitimacy.

GPS Can’t Support Religious Bigot Perikatan Nasional...

In the dubious list of 120 MPs, the opposition propagandists claim that Perikatan Nasional commands the support from GPS’ (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) entire bloc of 23 MPs as well as every Tom, Dick and hamster in Sabah. If that’s true, GPS chairman Abang Johari Openg would not have met Anwar on Dec 22 last year, assuring the prime minister that GPS was not interested in overthrowing the current federal government

Post-15th national polls, Muhyiddin had misled GPS chairman Abang Johari into believing that 10 Barisan Nasional MPs will defect, only to be humiliated when Zahid denied UMNO-led Barisan Nasional supported Perikatan Nasional to form a federal government. But the biggest problem was when Abang Johari was grilled by angry members over GPS’ hastily endorsement for Muhyiddin.

The mutiny started after the Borneo state premier entered a pact with Perikatan Nasional despite knowing PAS Islamist party has spewed anti-Christianity – even promote racist hatred, xenophobia, and all forms of bigotry. Racist bigot Muhyiddin said Christians were working with Jews to Christianise Malaysia, while Hadi tried to radicalise people with violent Islamic extremism.

Split Over 4 Prime Minister Candidates...

Unlike the Sheraton Move, where traitor Muhyiddin was the only candidate named as prime minister, the opposition camp has now proposed 4 names – Mohamad Hasan (Tok Mat), Muhyiddin Yassin, Hishammuddin Hussein and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar. This shows not only indecisiveness, even a split, over who should be the PM, but throwing enough mud at the wall with hope that some will stick.

Not that GPS cares or interested, but if none of Sarawak MPs get to be a prime minister candidate, why should they even support Perikatan Nasional? On the other hand, if the deputy prime minister is the best prize it would get, why should GPS switch sides when it has already received the recognition with the appointment of Fadillah Yusof as Deputy Prime Minister?

One of them is supposed to be PMXI...

Backdoor Govt Is Unstable And Bad For Malaysia...

There isn’t a single compelling reason to rock the boat and return to the previous 33-month unstable backdoor government that had spooked the economy, investors, stock market and local currency. Despite forming the biggest Malay-Muslim government, Muhyiddin lasted only 17 months while Ismail broke the record to become the shortest serving prime minister – just 14 months.

After 5 Bersatu MPs defected to the Unity Government, PM Anwar enjoys support from 152 out of 222 MPs. That’s more than two-thirds majority. Do you really think the King is mad enough to commit harakiri by destroying a stable 152-majority unity government (which the monarch proposed himself) so that a 120-majority backdoor government can be formed again?

Mahathir Denies Involvement In Dubai Move...

Arguably, the biggest red flag that Perikatan Nasional does not have the number to overthrow Anwar government was the denial from Mahathir of his involvement in the Dubai Move. If the RM750 million was successfully smuggled to bribe MPs to defect, or if the 120 MPs are ready to jump ship, Mahathir did not need to explain himself till foaming at the mouth.

Another red flag was from PAS president Hadi Awang, who said the Islamist party won’t buy MPs to seize power. In truth, they don’t have the money to buy MPs because the biggest financier – Daim Zainuddin – has all his assets seized. Hadi, who proudly and shamelessly declared he was the prime mover behind the Sheraton Move in 2020, would be claiming credit again had the Dubai Move progressed well.

Malay Monarchs Offended By Perikatan Nasional...

During the previous backdoor regime, PAS had gone as far as conspiring with illegitimate PM Muhyiddin and fabricated the revocation of the emergency laws without the consent from the Palace, a move tantamount to usurping the powers of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong – an act of waging war against the King, an offence that carries capital punishment – “death penalty”.

More importantly, the arrogant Muhyiddin and Hadi had betrayed, cheated, insulted, belittled and disrespected the royal households – from Sultan Selangor to Sultan Terengganu, and from Sultan of Perak to King Sultan Abdullah. Worse, Mahathir was the same prime minister whose dispute with the Malay Monarchs was a long-running feud that has lasted for over 40 years, stretching back as far as 1983.

Sultan Ibrahim Ready To Hunt All Corrupt People...

Last month, Sultan of Johor vowed to eradicate corruption in Malaysia as one of his key priorities when he is installed as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in January 31, 2024. In an exclusive interview with The Straits Times Singapore, Sultan Ibrahim also suggested that the MACC report directly to the Agong (King), instead of to the Parliament as practiced now.

He said a key cause of political instability was “sour grapes” by those who lost the general election, obviously referring to Bersatu and PAS, two primary political parties of Perikatan Nasional. Promising to hunt all the corrupt people, the sultan said he will make sure to bring results – suggesting that unlike other Agongs, he will play an active role in combating corruption.

Like it or not, King Sultan Abdullah has no appetite to get his hands dirty with yet another political coup staged by power-hungry politicians. After working with four prime minister, he has voiced his hope that Anwar would be the last prime minister appointed under his rule. Even if the opposition has 120 SDs, which they don’t, the monarch will most likely ask them to test it in the Parliament, which they won’t.

Any attempt to destabilize the government will not go down well with new King Sultan Ibrahim.  The story about having 120 MPs in the pocket is just hot air to throw a cat among the pigeons. It was part of psychological warfare to create nuisance in order to annoy the unity government, not to mention threatening national security by spooking foreign investors. - FT

Lama dah dok usong SD(Seluaq Dalam)...

Makin rancak cerita tebuk atap ni. Tadi dekat X (aku baru nak bermesra dengan platform ni), aku nampak Gomo siap share gambar Samsuri pakai baju Melayu. Macam ready nak angkat sumpah gitu. Dorang dakwa dah ada 120 SD. Dah submit ke YDP Agong dah. Maknanya DS Anwar dah hilang sokongan majoriti.

Selagi usul tak dibuat, selagi tu PMX takkan jatuh.

- Raja Gelap II

Well RPK, they do not believe you….

Umno supreme council member Lokman Adam debunked controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin’s claims that the opposition has garnered 120 SDs through the Dubai Move to topple the coalition government. In doing so, Lokman cited several reasons and “holes” to rubbish the claim by the pro-PN blogger, who’s living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom.

“On Jan 5, Raja Petra claimed that the prime ministerial candidate in the Dubai Move was Tok Mat (Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan). “The very next day, on Jan 6, he said the Dubai Move put forward three names as the PM candidate - former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, Dr Sam (Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar), and Muhyiddin Yassin. “Raja Petra conned himself (via this statement),” quipped Lokman.

Adding further, Lokman poked holes in Raja Petra’s theory by claiming the incoming Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar won’t allow any attempt to change the government. This is while the current king, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has also issued a decree that he wants Anwar Ibrahim as the last prime minister during his reign.

No audience...

Meanwhile, Sultan Ibrahim decreed that he would not grant any audience effective today (Jan 6) until Jan 31. The Johor ruler will be crowned the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31.

Taking to Facebook, the Royal Press Office said the ruler would only entertain events that have been fixed prior, his weekly meet with Johor menteri besar, as well as the state government.

“From today onwards, until I take my oath as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, I will not be accepting any more requests for an audience with me.

“During this time, I wish to spend quality time with my family before undertaking this enormous responsibility and trust,” he said. - mk

Some of you may want to listen to what this guy has to say in his video....silakan...but take this from me....this guy really can tell a tall tale as long as there is money in it for him.

His first sentence.."Hari ini Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim cuba berjumpa dengan President Pas" di IJN.......is  already a lie. After Friday prayers today, Anwar did go to IJN to  visit Hadi, but he could not meet Hadi because Hadi was having his dialysis

How did this idiot spin that truth...the truth that Anwar did go to IJN because he wanted to melawat Hadi who was unwell?  He turns that around into telling us that Hadi refused to see PMX!

And then this liar goes on to spin a convoluted tale of deception, farce, and outright lies.... narrated in a manner that would put even Walter Cronkite to shame. This guy in Manchester is good at what he does...spinning tall tales for money! He has no shame, no self-awareness, and no self-respect.

According to him, this Madani Unity Government has already fallen bar the Yang di Pertuan Agong making it official. According to him, Anwar Ibrahim is done being PMX. And just for safe measures, this idiot has given our King three names to choose from, to replace Anwar as PMX.Really?

Guys do not waste your time on this.....this .....despicable royal in Manchester. He has had his few minutes of infamy for the week.

- Lokman Adam

Btw, if SDs worked wouldn’t Din sembab be PM already??? - t/s

No cash & no frogs, the murky world of Malaysian politics...

No cash & no frogs, the murky world of Malaysian politics....

When former finance minister Daim Zainuddin failed to explain the sources of his wealth, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seized control of the iconic Ilham Tower in Kuala Lumpur, owned by the Daim family. With new names being leaked out as persons of interest to the MACC, many senior political and businesspeople are shuddering with fear that they might be next.

The seizure of Ilham Tower originated from an investigation of transactions dating back to 1997 based on the “Pandora Papers” that show a RM2.3 billion trail of concealed financial transactions through a web of offshore accounts. The action was taken under the MACC Act 2009, which brings into question the legality of the seizure, as the transactions predate the legislation being used.

Daim has claimed the action against him is plain political persecution, bringing much conjecture around Kuala Lumpur as to whether the Ilham Tower seizure is genuinely part of Anwar’s anti-corruption crusade, part of a pre-emptive move to shore up his government, or motivated by revenge and retribution.

The move could easily backfire, isolating Anwar even further from the Malay electorate he desperately wants to win over. This all comes on the back of charges brought against former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, after the High Court found four abuse of power charges defective and dismissed them.

In addition, the pursuit of Daim contrasts with the discharge not amounting to an acquittal from 47 breaches of trust and money laundering charges secured by Umno president and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last year. This supports allegations of selective prosecution made by the opposition.

Coordinated defence of the Madani government?

There appears to be a coordinated attack on the opposition. Anwar’s strategists may believe that attacking the opposition is the best defence of the government. The defection of five opposition MPs, who have pledged support for Anwar while remaining members of Bersatu, not only shores up Anwar’s parliamentary numbers, but makes Muhyiddin’s leadership look like it is crumbling, with Bersatu’s representation in Parliament whittled down from 31 to 26 seats.

The happenings of the last week have led to the possibility that pursuing those who are still powerful with lawfare on decades-old issues will lead to these powerful people plotting their own attacks on the Anwar government to bring back a period of political instability.

This is where the alleged meetings among a number of politicians across various parties has led to speculation of some sort of attempt to bring down the Anwar government in favour of a new government comprising PAS, Bersatu and Umno, with the support of the East Malaysian parties.

J-Kom reaction makes govt look hypocritical. The reaction from community communications department deputy director-general Ismail Yusop has further played up the issue. Ismail said such discussions were acts of betrayal, a malicious political conspiracy, and an act of treason, adding that Anwar should act decisively. Such comments are enough to create more damage.

Ismail’s comments imply that such a move is backed by powerful political figures who are providing financial support to induce MPs to switch their allegiances in what has been dubbed the “Dubai Move”.

What could happen next?...

Any such move is unlikely to resemble the “Sheraton Move” that dislodged Pakatan Harapan from office in February 2020. Carrying a batch of statutory declaration (SDs) to the Istana will not work this time around. There is no Covid-19 pandemic and no emergency, so the Yang di-Pertuan Agong would likely allow Parliament to deal with the issue, particularly with less than one month left on his tenure as king.

Based on past moves to oust previous administrations, any move to bring down a government on the floor of the Dewan Rakyat would require politicians to come out of the dark and directly into the light to proactively advocate a “no-confidence” motion. Most individual MPs would shy away from this, as they would feel very uncomfortable playing direct and public roles. It would be much easier for MPs to sign their SDs and let others deal with the matter.

Directly calling for a motion of no confidence in the prime minister would be risky. That is why it has never been done before. Most moves against a prime minister have always been via the king’s office, using SDs as proof of a majority. This indicates that the “Dubai Move” would be difficult to implement, as it would most probably cause ripples within Umno. Also, Bersatu would have to play a very proactive role to topple Anwar, which it would not be prepared to do.

If the objective of the so-called “Dubai Move” was to give the appearance of political instability, then it has achieved that goal. If it was intended as the start of Anwar’s downfall, then its proponents better have a very good strategy in place.

However, if there was a vote of no confidence, and Anwar lost the vote, he would either have to resign as prime minister and/or advise the king to call a general election. If no other MP could show he or she could command the confidence of at least 112 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat, there would be little choice but to have a general election.

Go for an early election?...

The only way Anwar can be deposed is most probably through an early general election. With the unpopularity of the Anwar government, this is something the Pakatan Harapan (PH) components in the coalition would fear most. In addition, Umno would most likely be desecrated, so will resist any calls for a general election. The likely outcome, if a general election is called, would be a replay of the 2022 election, except that Umno and PH would have much fewer seats. This would place the East Malaysian parties in the “kingmaker” role.

Any general election would most probably lead to a Malay-centric coalition, with Sabah and Sarawakian support. Sarawak would head towards “de facto independence” or autonomy by taking control of more infrastructural assets and power at the state level. The Federation of Malaysia would look more like a marriage of convenience than a united nation.

The solution to potential political instability might not rest with party politics, parliament, or the people. Anwar’s anti-corruption crusade may have to make compromises for the sake of a stable government. Otherwise, we could see the fall of his government. - Murray Hunter

Kemas kini maklumat sebelum 31 Mac 2024!!!

PADU tak cukup padu kata pemfitnah tegar ni. Kalau tak cukup padu, cuba beritahu masa PN dulu apa yang PN pernah buat untuk perbaiki ekonomi negara?

1. Tambah hutang.
2. Ekonomi merudum.
3. Sakau

Tak ada pun usaha nak kurangkan defisit negara. Lagi tambah hutang negara ada la. Buat program konon untuk bantu bumiputera. Tapi yang kaya pemimpin PN. Tu belum cerita kegagalan nak tangani peningkatan kos sara hidup. Siap buat JK Jihad lagi.

Sebab tu PN tak usaha pun kawal subsidi.

Tapi memang wajar pemimpin PN tak suka PADU ni. Sebab pemimpin PN, terutama yang jadi ustaz sampul nanti dapat dah nak isi minyak kereta murah-murah. Dah tu masing-masing kereta mewah . Takkan layak dapat subsidi. Kan? Sebab tu dia marah. Lagipun anak menteri pun tak dapat dah nak sorok minyak lagi. Dah tak untung. Aku faham perasan dorang. Raja Gelap II
